JOB OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE:  Assistant to the Accounts Receivable Manager I

DEPARTMENT:  Accounting

LOCATION:  Buffalo, NY

DIRECT SUPERVISOR:  Accounts Receivable Manager, Accounting

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for supporting the Accounts Receivable Manager with ensuring the accuracy of the electronic billing; the recording of the financial data; and the supporting CDPAS (Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services) payroll process.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Keep the Medicaid eligibility list up to date.
     
  2. Assist with updating authorizations and units of service for consumers.
     
  3. Support Accounts Receivable Manager with corrections on claims.
     
  4. Assist staff with questions regarding electronic billing.
     
  5. Assist as a backup to import billing data into financial software.
     
  6. Work with the Accounts Receivable (A/R) Manager to export raw data and interfacing between record keeping software and accounting software.
     
  7. Assist with identifying corrective actions regarding rejected billings.
     
  8. Assist the Payroll Coordinator with editing and entering time and attendance data into payroll software, bi-weekly.
     
  9. Participate in preparation of Cost Report schedules.
     
  10. Participate in maintaining a neat, clean and safe work environment.
     
  11. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
     

EDUCATION & TRAINING

High school diploma or equivalent
                 OR
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting

Professional and life experience may be considered in lieu of, in full or part of academic credentials.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE (if required)

 

  • Two (2) - five (5) years of experience with Medicaid / Managed Care Billing is required.
     
  • Accounts receivable experience is required.
     
  • Experience with Accounting software is required.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

  • Must have intermediate level of knowledge of computers including the use of Excel spreadsheets, databases, word processing and networks.
     
  • Perform in a professional, conscientious, and efficient manner for the purpose of ensuring a better quality of life for persons with disabilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Office

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB:  Sitting for extended periods of time.
Occasional lifting of not more than 15 pounds.

HOURS / SHIFTS:  37.5 – 40 hours per week. M – F 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Overtime rarely required.

CLASSIFICATION:  Full-time, salary, non-exempt, Support staff.
Range:  $41,000 - $44,000
