JOB OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE:  Assistant Chief Financial Officer (Assistant CFO)

DEPARTMENT:  Accounting

LOCATION:  Buffalo, N.Y.

DIRECT SUPERVISOR:  Chief Financial Officer (CFO)


GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide support to the CFO and Accounting Department to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.


SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide direct supervision to the Senior Staff Accountant and Staff Accountant.
     
  2. Maintain and complete Finance Deadline Schedule on a daily basis.
     
  3. Support the CFO in all areas of the Accounting department.
     
  4. Manage and complete all aspects of the contracts and grants of Western New York Independent Living, Inc. (WNYIL).
     
  5. Review and assist with journaling of WNYIL Staff payrolls.
     
  6. Review and assist with journaling CDPAS payrolls.
     
  7. Carry out accounting related portions of the 403(b) process.
     
  8. Work with the CFO in the completion of the annual budgets.
     
  9. Executes and orchestrates all accounting audits for WNYIL.
     
  10. Provides all information and serves as the agency lead contact to the contracted company for preparing the cost report and subsequent cost report audits.
     
  11. Prepare the Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR) and CFR related reports.
     
  12. Work directly with the department supervisors in maintaining contracts and budgets.
     
  13. Attend Agency’s in-service training and staff meetings as well as any other agency-related activities as required.
     
  14. Participate in maintaining a neat, clean and safe work environment.
     
  15. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting required.
     
  • Professional and life experience may be considered in lieu of, in full or part of academic credentials.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE (if required)

  • Three (3)- five (5) years of experience in Accounting required.
     
  • Experience with Accounting software required.
     
  • Experience with payroll software is desirable.
     

    SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must have intermediate level of knowledge of computers including the use of Excel spreadsheets, databases, word processing and networks.
     
  • Perform in a professional, conscientious, and efficient manner for the purpose of ensuring a better quality of life for persons with disabilities.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Office

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB:  Sitting for extended periods of time.
Occasional lifting of not more than 15 pounds.

HOURS / SHIFTS:  37.5 – 40 hours per week.
M – F  8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

CLASSIFICATION:  Full-time, salary, exempt, professional staff.
Range:  $77,000 - $80,000
